This conical gas nozzle, also called a shroud, directs shielding gas around the arc on your MIG torch. Choose your torch family — MB15, MB25, MB36, MB40 or MB501 — since the fit and size differ across each.

What does a gas nozzle do?

The nozzle fits over the contact tip and diffuser, shaping the shielding gas into a steady stream around the arc. Without good gas coverage, the weld pulls in atmospheric nitrogen and oxygen, which causes porosity. The conical shape gives closer access into tight joints than a straight cylindrical nozzle.

How do I know which torch family I need?

Match the nozzle to your torch model, not just your contact tip thread — MB15 and MB25 share M6 consumables but still use different nozzle sizes. Check the model markings on your existing torch, or compare against your current worn nozzle, before ordering.

Why does spatter build up inside my gas nozzle?

Spatter sticks to the inside wall as the arc throws molten droplets during welding. A build-up narrows the gas flow path and disrupts shielding, so clean the nozzle regularly with anti-spatter spray or a reamer, and replace it once the build-up won't clear.

Can I use a conical nozzle everywhere a cylindrical one fits?

Not always. A conical nozzle's tapered shape gives better access in tight corners and fillet joints, but a cylindrical nozzle covers a wider gas pattern for open, flat work. So choose based on the joint, not just what's on hand.

What causes poor gas coverage even with a clean nozzle?

Check your gas flow rate first, then look for draughts, damaged O-rings, a loose connection, or too much stick-out distance. A clean nozzle alone doesn't guarantee good coverage if the rest of the gas path has a problem.

How do I know when to replace a gas nozzle?

Replace it once it's dented, cracked, or so spatter-caked that cleaning no longer restores gas flow. A damaged nozzle can also short against the contact tip, so don't wait for a complete failure before swapping it out.
