1. About us
Amalgum Welding Shop has supplied welding equipment, consumables, and industrial gas to South African customers since 2002, and manufactures and repairs MIG, TIG and plasma torches from our own workshop in Kempton Park.
2. Orders and quotes
Until online payment is enabled, orders placed through the Site are quote requests, not immediate purchases. Submitting a quote request does not create a binding sale — we will confirm final pricing, stock availability, and delivery before any payment is taken or goods are dispatched. No payment is collected at the point of a quote request.
Once online payment is enabled for a given order type, a contract of sale is formed when we accept your order and confirm payment, not when you submit it.
3. Pricing
Prices displayed on the Site are in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT. We reserve the right to correct pricing errors before an order is confirmed. Delivery charges are calculated separately and disclosed before you confirm an order — see our Shipping Policy.
4. Product information
We make reasonable efforts to describe products, specifications, and images accurately. Welding equipment specifications (voltage, amperage, duty cycle, and similar figures) are sourced from manufacturer data sheets or our own verified testing. If you rely on a specification for a specific application, confirm it with us directly before ordering — WhatsApp us at +27 73 445 7011 or call 011 452 8413.
5. Payment
Orders currently proceed as quote requests, handled by our sales team directly — no online payment is processed through the Site and no payment is collected at the point of a quote request. Once online payment is enabled (via Ozow), this section will be updated to describe the payment process and any applicable payment terms.
6. Delivery
See our Shipping Policy for delivery timeframes, coverage, and charges.
7. Returns and cancellations
See our Returns Policy and Refund & Cancellation Policy for the applicable terms, including your rights under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA) and the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA).
8. Warranty
Welding machines carry a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects from the date of purchase. This warranty covers the machine itself and does not extend to spares, consumables, or wear parts (e.g. contact tips, torch liners, nozzles, tungsten electrodes), which are not covered by this warranty. This is in addition to, and does not replace, the implied warranty of quality under section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, where the CPA applies to your purchase.
9. Intended use and safety
Welding, cutting, and gas-handling equipment sold through the Site is intended for use by, or under the supervision of, competent persons trained in its safe operation. You are responsible for using equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and all applicable South African occupational health and safety requirements. We are not liable for injury, loss, or damage arising from misuse, unauthorised modification, or use outside the manufacturer’s specifications.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Amalgum Welding Shop’s liability for any claim arising from your use of the Site or a purchase is limited to the value of the relevant order. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under the Consumer Protection Act or any other South African law.
11. Intellectual property
All content on the Site — text, images, logos, and the AWS Welders by Amalgum brand — is the property of Amalgum Welding Shop or its licensors and may not be reproduced without permission.
12. Privacy
Our collection and use of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is aligned with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts, without prejudice to any right you have to refer a consumer complaint to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) or the National Consumer Commission.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your order applies to that order. Continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
