Prevents torch overheating
Circulates coolant to a water-cooled MIG or TIG torch, letting it run higher duty cycles without heat-related shutdowns.

The AWS CoolMate 9L is Amalgum Welding Shop’s portable water cooler for water-cooled MIG and TIG welding torches, circulating coolant to prevent overheating. 9L tank, 3760W maximum cooling capacity, IP21 protection.

Why this machine
Circulates coolant to a water-cooled MIG or TIG torch, letting it run higher duty cycles without heat-related shutdowns.
Reduces thermal stress on the torch and cable assembly, per the manufacturer's stated benefit of extending equipment life.
At 17kg and 457 x 254 x 330mm, it's compact enough to move between a water-cooled MIG or TIG torch as needed.
The AWS CoolMate 9L (item code WRC-300D) is Amalgum Welding Shop’s own-brand water cooler for welding machine and torch setups that run water-cooled. It circulates coolant through a water-cooled MIG or TIG torch and back through its own radiator, holding the torch at a safer operating temperature so it can run harder for longer without cutting out on heat.
It pumps coolant through the torch’s water lines and back through an internal radiator, pulling heat away from the torch tip and cable during high-amperage or high-duty-cycle work. A water-cooled torch cannot function without one — it will overheat almost immediately if run dry or without circulation.
Only if your torch is specifically a water-cooled model, such as our MB501 water-cooled MIG welding torch. An air-cooled torch has no coolant lines and gains nothing from a cooler. If a high-amperage, high-duty-cycle job keeps tripping your air-cooled torch on heat, moving to a water-cooled torch plus this cooler is the standard fix.
3,760W maximum cooling capacity at a coolant flow rate of 1.7L/min, from a 9-litre reservoir. Housing is rated IP21 for basic dust and splash protection.
AWS states the CoolMate 9L is compatible with “various welding setups” without naming specific machines or torch models on the spec sheet. Confirm your torch’s water-line fittings and connector type against the CoolMate before ordering — send us your torch model or a photo and we’ll check compatibility first.
220V ~ 50/60Hz single-phase per the AWS spec sheet. The unit’s own rating plate states AC 230V, 1~50/60Hz with a rated current of 0.4A — both figures sit within normal single-phase supply tolerance, so either reading is fine on standard South African 220–230V power. Protection rating is IP21.
The AWS CoolMate 9L is in stock now, priced direct at R3,000.00 incl. VAT — no reseller markup. We’ve built and repaired MIG and TIG equipment in our own workshop since 2002, so if you’re not sure whether your torch needs this cooler, send us the torch model or a photo and we’ll confirm compatibility before you buy.
