MIG Torch Neck Spring – Binzel Style

A cracked or missing neck spring lets the torch neck flex too far at the bend, which stresses the liner and cable underneath every time you point the torch into a joint. Replacing the spring early costs a few rand — replacing a split neck body costs a lot more.

What does a neck spring do?

The spring wraps around the torch neck at the point where it curves towards the workpiece. It stops the neck bending past its safe radius, so the liner inside doesn't kink and the neck body doesn't work-harden and crack from repeated flexing.

This spring fits MB15 and MB25 Binzel-style torches — select your torch family below. The two necks aren't interchangeable, so check your torch model before ordering.

How do I know if my neck spring needs replacing?

Look for a spring that's stretched, kinked, or missing coils — if the neck flexes further than it used to, or you can see bare cable through gaps in the spring, it's due for a replacement.

Can I keep welding with a damaged neck spring?

You can, but the neck keeps flexing unsupported, which shortens the life of the liner and the neck body itself. It's a low-cost part to swap out before it causes a bigger repair.
