Why does my torch need a separate tip adaptor?
Some torch families use a two-piece design: a fixed adaptor threaded into the torch neck, then a contact tip that screws into the adaptor. So the adaptor sets the thread the contact tip needs to match. Get the adaptor wrong and no contact tip will fit properly, even if the tip itself is the right size.
Which fit do I choose?
Match the option to your torch model, not just the thread. The MB15 fit uses a right-hand thread. The MB25 fit combines the adaptor and gas diffuser in one part, so it replaces both together. MB36 comes in both M6 and M8 versions, matching whichever contact-tip thread your MB36 is configured for. So confirm your exact torch model and thread before ordering.

Do MB40 and MB501 use the same adaptor?
Both take M8 thread, so the same adaptor fit works for either torch. Confirm the exact torch model before ordering, since fit can still vary by manufacturer.
Does the MB25 adaptor include the gas diffuser?
Yes, for this range the MB25 fit combines the adaptor and diffuser into one part. You don't need to order them separately for that torch family.
How do I know if my torch needs an adaptor at all?
Not every torch family uses one. Some contact tips thread straight into the torch neck with no separate adaptor. Check your torch's existing parts, or contact us with your torch model and we'll confirm whether you need one.
Will any adaptor fit any contact tip?
No. Thread size and torch fit both have to match. Check our MIG contact tips listing to confirm the same thread before ordering both together.
