MB25 Aluminium MIG Welding Torch – Teflon Liner – 2m
MB25-style MIG aluminium welding torch. Built-in Teflon liner and short 2m cable for smoother wire feed.
This torch is Amalgum Welding Shop's MB25-style MIG aluminium welding torch. It has a built-in Teflon liner. The 2m cable is shorter than a standard torch on purpose. Both reduce feed resistance on soft aluminium wire.
Why does an aluminium torch need a Teflon liner and a short cable?
Aluminium wire is much softer than steel MIG wire. A standard steel liner can shave it, and a long cable gives it more distance to buckle or bird-nest before reaching the tip. A low-friction Teflon liner and a short, straight-running 2m cable both cut that resistance down, so the wire feeds smoothly instead of jamming.
Do I need anything else to MIG weld aluminium?
Yes. A torch alone doesn't make a machine aluminium-capable. You also need U-groove drive rolls (a standard V-groove roll will deform soft wire), argon shielding gas, and a compatible aluminium filler wire matched to your base metal. Confirm your welder supports aluminium before ordering.
What's included
The torch ships with its Teflon liner already fitted. It's ready to connect to a compatible MIG welder. It doesn't include drive rolls, gas or wire — those are separate, machine-specific choices.
MIG aluminium welding torch FAQ
Can I use this torch's liner for steel wire too?
It's built and fitted specifically for aluminium. Use a dedicated steel-wire torch for steel MIG work rather than swapping liners back and forth.
Why is the cable only 2m, when most torches are 4m or 5m?
Every bend and metre of cable adds resistance that soft aluminium wire struggles against. A short, straight-running 2m cable is a deliberate trade-off — less reach, more reliable feed.
What causes aluminium wire to bird-nest or jam?
Usually a combination of the wrong drive rolls, a contaminated or wrong-type liner, excess roll pressure, or too much distance and too many bends in the feed path. Check the liner and drive rolls first.
Will my normal MIG welder work for aluminium?
Not automatically. Confirm your machine actually supports an aluminium feed setup, has the right polarity, and can take U-groove rolls. Send us your machine model and we'll check compatibility before you order.
