MB25 Air-Cooled MIG Welding Torch

The MB25 (also known as BZ25) is Amalgum Welding Shop's mid-duty, air-cooled MIG welding torch. It steps up from our lighter MB15 while staying flexible for general workshop use. Choose a 4m or 5m cable. It uses the M6 consumable range, the same thread as the MB15.

What is the MB25 torch good for?

MB25-style torches typically handle around 230A on CO2 and 200A on mixed gas, at a 60% duty cycle. So this sits above the MB15 in output but below the M8-thread MB40. It suits general fabrication and repair work, not just light DIY jobs. Always check your specific welder and application against the torch's actual rating.

Is this the same as your aluminium MB25 torch?

No. This is the general-purpose, steel-focused MB25. Our separate MB25 Aluminium torch has a built-in Teflon liner and a shorter 2m cable, purpose-built for feeding soft aluminium wire. Choose based on the material you're welding, not just the model number.

What's included

The torch ships ready to connect to a compatible MIG welder. It doesn't include contact tips, gas nozzles or a liner. Stock up separately using our MIG contact tips (M6 thread for this torch) and gas nozzles.

Should I choose the MB15 or the MB25?

Both take M6 consumables, so contact tips are interchangeable between them. The MB15 suits lighter DIY work. This MB25 handles more sustained, mid-duty fabrication.

Will MB40 or MB501 contact tips fit this torch?

No. MB40 and MB501-style torches take M8 thread. This MB25 takes M6, the same as the MB15. Check our MIG contact tips listing for both threads before ordering.

Can I weld aluminium with this torch?

Not reliably. This torch uses a standard liner, which struggles with soft aluminium wire. Use our dedicated MB25 Aluminium torch instead, built with a low-friction Teflon liner for that job.

What wire size does this torch handle?

MB25-style torches typically run wire from around 0.8mm to 1.2mm. Match your contact tip to the exact wire diameter you're running, not just the torch model.
