MIG welding equipment
Choosing a MIG welder starts with one decision: gas or gasless. Gas-shielded wire gives the cleaner weld indoors, while gasless flux-cored wire is the practical choice outdoors, where wind can blow a gas shield away, or when you would rather not carry a cylinder. The machines, torches and torch consumables below cover both routes.
Every MIG welder below is in stock in Kempton Park and priced direct, from R1,725 for the Pinnacle MIGARC 145 gasless machine to R31,625 for the 500A DABU MIG-500 industrial unit. In between sit the Pinnacle MIGARC 195, the DABU 225 Pulse and the 250A AWS PrimiMIG 251C, which also runs stick and lift TIG.
We have built and repaired MIG, TIG and stick equipment in our own workshop since 2002, and we are an Air Products gas agent, so your MIG welder, its shielding gas and its torch consumables are sorted in one place. And if it ever needs service, the people who sold it to you are the people who fix it.

Gas or gasless MIG welder: make this call first
Gas-shielded MIG feeds a solid wire while gas flowing through the torch nozzle protects the molten weld pool from the air. It usually gives the cleaner bead with little slag, which makes it the better fit for controlled indoor fabrication where finish matters. Its weakness is wind: a draught can blow the shield away and cause porosity even when your settings are right.
What most buyers call gasless MIG is self-shielded flux-cored welding. The wire contains flux that protects the weld pool, so there is no cylinder, regulator or hose to carry. The trade-off is slag to chip or brush off and usually more spatter. Choose gasless for outdoor work and site repairs, and gas-shielded for clean indoor work. Our gas vs gasless MIG welding guide goes through the decision in more detail.
Does the MIG welder you want support the process you need?
Not every machine runs both. The Pinnacle MIGARC 145 is documented for gasless flux-cored MIG, MMA and lift TIG, and its specification does not confirm gas-shielded solid-wire MIG. The Pinnacle MIGARC 195 and the AWS PrimiMIG 251C list MIG, gasless MIG, MMA and lift TIG, while the DABU 225 Pulse lists pulse MIG, CO2/MIG, TIG and MMA. Check the process list on the product page before you buy, because the wire, polarity and torch all follow from it.
What amperage and power supply do you need?
Match the machine to your heaviest regular job and the power you have. The Pinnacle MIGARC 145 gives up to 120A MIG output and the MIGARC 195 covers 30 to 140A. The DABU 225 Pulse covers 30 to 220A and the AWS PrimiMIG 251C goes up to 250A, all on 220V single phase. For continuous production work the DABU MIG-500 gives 40 to 500A MIG output on 380V, with a sheet-stated 100% duty cycle at 387A.
Can you weld aluminium with a MIG welder?
Yes, but it needs the right set-up: gas-shielded MIG with argon rather than flux-cored wire, aluminium wire such as 4043 or 5356, and a torch suited to the softer wire. We stock the MB25 aluminium torch with a Teflon liner, because a standard steel liner can shred aluminium wire. Confirm that your machine supports the aluminium set-up before you buy.
What does a MIG welder cost?
Our MIG welders run from R1,725 for the compact gasless Pinnacle MIGARC 145 to R31,625 for the three-phase industrial DABU MIG-500, with the MIGARC 195, DABU 225 Pulse and PrimiMIG 251C between them. Browse the MIG welding machines or the multi-process welders to compare them side by side.
What you need beyond the machine
A MIG welder needs wire, a torch and wear parts, plus shielding gas if you choose the gas-shielded route. Our MIG welding torches run from R850 for the MB15 to R2,800 for the water-cooled MB501, and MIG torch consumables start at R5. As an Air Products gas agent we can supply your gas in the same place, and we can match the torch, tip and liner to your machine if you bring it in or send us a photo.
