TIG welding equipment
TIG welding equipment covers more than the machine: a power source, a torch, tungsten, filler rod, argon and the consumables that wear out first. Compare the current DC and AC/DC TIG machines, torches, tungsten electrodes, filler rods and torch consumables below, then open each product page to confirm its processes, amperage range, included equipment, current pricing and availability.
Everything below is in stock in Kempton Park and priced direct. Our TIG welding equipment runs from R4,705 for the Pinnacle PROTIG 200P DC pulse machine to R28,531.50 for the Thermamax Griffin PRO-TIG 200 AC/DC, with torches from R1,200, tungsten electrodes at R35 and filler rod from R250.
We have built and repaired TIG torches in our own workshop since 2002, and we are an Air Products gas agent, so your TIG welding equipment, argon and spare consumables come from one place. And if a machine or torch ever needs service, the people who sold it to you are the people who fix it.

What TIG welding equipment do you need?
A working TIG setup has six parts: a TIG power source, a torch, tungsten electrodes, filler rod, argon shielding gas, and the consumables that hold the tungsten and direct the gas (cups, collets and collet bodies). Start with the machine, because it decides the rest. Browse our TIG welding machines, then add the torch, tungsten and filler that suit the metal you weld.
Which TIG machine fits your budget?
We stock four machines in the 200A class. The Pinnacle PROTIG 200P is a DC pulse machine at R4,705, and the Thermamax Griffin TIG200P DC Pulse at R14,500 has a 10-200A TIG range and a sheet-stated 60% TIG duty cycle. For aluminium, the Pinnacle PROTIG 200P ACDC is R11,845, and the single-phase Thermamax Griffin PRO-TIG 200 ACDC at R28,531.50 carries a 60% rated duty cycle.
Aluminium: start with an AC/DC machine
Aluminium needs alternating current, because AC breaks up the oxide layer that DC cannot, so a DC-only machine is the wrong tool. Our AC/DC options are the Pinnacle PROTIG 200P ACDC at R11,845 and the Thermamax Griffin PRO-TIG 200 ACDC at R28,531.50. Pair either one with a zirconated tungsten electrode, which is the type we stock for AC TIG, and an aluminium filler rod.
Stainless steel: match the filler rod to the grade
Stainless steel can be welded with a DC machine, so the Pinnacle PROTIG 200P at R4,705 or the Thermamax Griffin TIG200P DC Pulse at R14,500 both cover it. What matters is the rod: our TIG308L is a filler rod for 304 and 304L, and our TIG316L is for corrosion-resistant 316 and 316L. A thoriated tungsten electrode is the DC type we stock.
Filler rod: choose by base metal
We stock ER70S-6 for mild steel, 308L and 316L for stainless, 4043, 5356 and 4047 for aluminium, and titanium wire, all from R250 and all intended for use with pure argon. 4043 is the general-purpose aluminium rod and 5356 is the higher-strength one. Titanium needs dedicated titanium-only equipment to avoid contamination. See the full TIG filler rod range.
Torches: pick the rating, then the cooling
Our TIG torches run from R1,200 for the WP17 to R2,300 for the WP26. The WP17 suits general fabrication, while the WP18 and WP26 are for heavier, higher-amperage work. Valve versions add an on-torch gas valve. For water-cooled torches, the AWS CoolMate 9L water cooler is R9,500. Spare TIG torch consumables start at R6 for a stubby ceramic cup.
Gas: use argon, and buy it where you buy the machine
Our filler rod is specified for pure argon, and argon is the usual TIG shielding gas rather than the carbon-dioxide mixes used for steel MIG. As an Air Products gas agent, we can supply your argon alongside the machine, torch and consumables, and we will match the cup, collet and tungsten to your torch if you bring it in or send us a photo.
